The Cost of All Books Under SNC Punjab is Not More Than Rs. 1000, Says Murad Raas
Punjab Education Minister Dr. Murad Raas said the cost of all books under the Single National Curriculum (SNC) does not exceed Rs. 1000.
In an interview with a private news channel on Wednesday, Dr. Raas that a uniform program will be introduced across Punjab since the start of the new academic year on the 2nd of August.
While the program taught in private schools costs thousands of rupees while the price of textbooks in SNC is only Rs. 800, he says.
The provincial minister said he was not surprised that opposition parties opposed the SNC as it would cripple the publishing mafia.
“Our government has tried to involve publishers and allow them to submit their books and apply for NOCs, but none of them bothered to contact the government about it.”
Now that the SNC Punjab is over, these publishers have launched a campaign against the Unified National Agenda.
He regretted those previous governments could not do anything in the field of education, but only created all kinds of the mafia in Pakistan.
In more than two years, the Federal Ministry of Education has completed a uniform curriculum for all public and private schools and religious seminars, which is now being implemented throughout Punjab in primary education.
By the end of 2022, the govt wants to introduce a uniform curriculum up to grade 12.
