The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is poised to be the most thrilling yet, as all six PSL franchises vie for positions on the PSL points table 2024 and ultimately, vie for the prestigious title of PSL champions.

PSL 2024 Points Table

Teams will strive to ascend the PSL points table, aiming for the coveted top four spots on the PSL 9 Points Table to secure a place in the PSL playoffs.

Every franchise is determined to clinch a spot in the top four of the PSL 9-point table, paving their way to the playoffs. The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, are eyeing a third consecutive title victory, aiming to make history as the first team in PSL history to achieve this feat.

Meanwhile, the other five franchises are determined to close the gap with Lahore and claim the title for themselves. Islamabad United, for instance, seeks to clinch their third title and break a six-year trophy drought for the franchise.

PSL 9 Points Table Criteria

The PSL standings and rankings are based on the teams’ accumulated points throughout the league. Points are awarded to teams based on their performance in league matches, with each team playing against each other twice, once at home and once away.

During the group stage, a win earns a team two points, while a loss results in zero points. If a match is abandoned and ends without a result, both teams receive one point each.

The points system for the PSL Points Table 2024 mirrors that of previous editions of the PSL and other franchise T20 leagues worldwide.

In the event of a tie, a Super Over will be played.

The following criteria determine the ranking of teams in the group stages:

  1. The team with the highest points at the end of the group stage secures the first position.
  2. In case of equal points, the team with a superior net run rate claims the higher position.
  3. If points and net run rates are equal, the team with the most wins in the group stage takes precedence.
  4. If the above criteria remain equal, the team with fewer losses is ranked higher in the table.
  5. If all criteria are still equal, the outcome of head-to-head matches between the two teams determines their league position.

PSL Playoffs

The playoffs follow the group stage of the PSL. They consist of two Qualifying matches and an Eliminator match.

In the qualifier match, the team that finishes first on the points table competes against the team in second place. The winner advances to the final, while the loser moves to the second eliminator.

In the first eliminator match, the second-placed team plays against the third-placed team. The winner proceeds to the second eliminator to face the qualifier’s loser, while the loser exits the league.

The second eliminator is contested between the loser of the qualifier and the winner of the first eliminator. The victor advances to the PSL final, while the defeated team bows out of the league.
