The number of women players has increased significantly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Likewise, the United Arab Emirates, especially Dubai, has started to emerge as a global destination for gambling companies.

According to a report by Lumikai, more than 40% of all console, PC, and smartphone gamers worldwide are women.

In this regard, the Redseer Consulting Report predicted that the contribution of female gamers will help the gaming industry in the MENA region surpass US$5 billion by 2025.

To further strengthen Dubai’s position in the gaming industry, the Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC) has announced the opening of a gaming center.

Lucy Chow, Investor, and Women in Games Ambassador, spoke about the contribution of women to the gaming industry, noting that projects like Dubai Esports Festival, Games for Change, and Gamers8 serve to attract more women to the gaming scene.

He added that governments are trying to support regional businesses and local talent while making the games industry more open to all genres.

Earlier, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy hosted a workshop on games. Along with these milestones, more and more women in the region are pursuing careers in the technology industry.

Sandsoft Games CEO David Fernandez said that it is true that most core mid and extreme games are male-dominated and these games also attracted audiences from content creators and streamers making them very competitive.
