“I’m so sorry love you didn’t deserve this,” said the grieving girlfriend of a footballer who was fatally stabbed at a nightclub on Christmas Day.

Jess Chatwin also called 23-year-old Cody Fisher “everyone, the love of my life, my best friend,” adding, “I don’t know how to live life without you.”

Defender Cody was stabbed to death in Birmingham on Monday night amid the screams of revelers.

Police said two men were arrested today on suspicion of Cody’s murder.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at a location in Birmingham city center just after midnight, while a second man, 21, was arrested in London, according to a West Midlands Police spokesman.

Relatives who pay tribute to him describe him as “the purest soul”, “wonderful” and “best friend”.

Mourning Jess wrote online: “My poor baby. I’m so sorry this happened to you.”

“My whole world was taken from me, the love of my life, my best friend.”

“I don’t know how to live without you, Code. There are so many things we will never have the opportunity to do right now.”

“It doesn’t look real. I love you forever Cody Fisher.”

She added in a separate Instagram story with a photo of them having a drink: “My baby’s smile. how can you take it It should be us forever.”

Cody’s family said last night: “We’ve been heartbroken; I lost my best friend.”

“My family and I ask for privacy and respect at this heartbreaking time.”

Friend Mikey Jarell wrote online: “Cody! My fucking little brother!!! The purest soul.”

Wiping tears from his eyes, chairman Jed McCrory told Sky News: “The players are heartbroken. I was so close And we are a family club.”

“Everyone knows everyone. It’s going to be difficult for everyone. Everyone at this club. He was loved so much.”

“I’m just speechless. Anything we can do to help, we will do. I feel so sorry for [his family].”

A team spokesman said: “All of us at Stratford Town Football is saddened by the tragic loss of one of our own players, Cody Fisher.”

“Our deepest condolences to Cody’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.”

Just before 11:45 pm Boxing Day, police were called to reports of a stabbing at The Crane nightclub on Adderley Street in Digbeth, Birmingham.

Before he was stabbed, the man was “approached by a group of people,” according to investigators.

The DJ reportedly stopped playing the music and a warning message popped up on the club’s big screens.

Medical personnel fought for Cody’s life, but he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.’
