Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are said to have a 48-megapixel camera instead of a 12-megapixel camera, resulting in massive improvements in image quality. Other leaked specifications have also surfaced, revealing more details about Apple’s flagship smartphones.

Tipster Fishing 8 mentioned the specs in a Weibo post, stating that the 48-megapixel camera will have a 1/1.3-inch sensor size.

Mac Rumors has confirmed reports that the phones will have a 21% larger sensor area compared to the 1/1.65-inch cameras on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.

Currently, a 1/1.3-inch sensor is present in Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones using Samsung’s 52MP GN1.

A large sensor helps capture more light, which improves image and video quality, especially in low light conditions. Apple compensates for the lack of light in a shot with the Night Mode feature, which allows the camera to take its time before processing an image and keeps the camera steady to avoid blur.

However, with the large sensor size of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, this problem will likely be solved.

Fishing 8 also revealed other details, including a 1.22µm pixel size, which is slightly smaller than the 1.9µm pixel size of the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max. Pixels help improve the overall quality of the image. However, as the sensor size increases, Apple’s next smartphones could show significant improvements.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 series in September this year.
