US Waives Interviews For Various Visa Categories For All Pakistanis

The U.S. Mission to Pakistan announced the extension of eligibility to waive interviews at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and U.S. Consulate General Karachi for Pakistani citizens renewing B1 business and tourist visas. /B2.

All Pakistani citizens, regardless of age, whose B1/B2 visas are valid or have expired within the last 48 months are eligible to participate. Previously, only Pakistani citizens over the age of 45 could participate.

Additionally, interview waiver eligibility for student and work visa applicants who previously held U.S. visas will be extended through 2023.

The Expanded Interview Waiver Eligibility is a process change intended to provide better customer service and more efficiently process tourist and business visa renewals for qualified and eligible Pakistani citizens.

In accordance with US law, some eligible visa holders may be required to appear for interviews at the US Embassy or Consulate General after submitting their application.

Applicants can visit the US Mission in Pakistan website to determine if they are eligible for an interview waiver.

Candidates who are now eligible for an interview waiver but are currently scheduled for an interview can cancel their appointment online, start under New Application in the scheduling window, and follow the online steps to submit an interview waiver.

Please note that there are courier locations that are specifically authorized to submit maintenance waivers and the average turnaround time is four weeks.
