Sharjah Allows Private Schools To Increase Tuition Fees

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has approved an increase in annual tuition fees of up to 5% effective from the next academic year. Due to inflation, the agency allowed schools rated higher than “acceptable” to increase their fees.

SPEA tweeted that it has been authorized to increase tuition by up to 5% for the 2023-24 academic year to ensure quality teaching and learning and to meet private sector resource needs.

Dubai Also Allows An Increase in Tuition Fees

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai previously allowed private schools to increase tuition fees by up to 3% next school year.

The amount by which schools can increase the tuition depends on the inspection qualification of the Dubai Schools Inspection Board.

Under the rules, private schools can increase fees by 3% while maintaining the same level of inspection. However, schools with lower inspection scores are not eligible for a fee increase.
