Raquel Welch’s Husbands: These Are Richie Palmer, Patrick Curtis, André Weinfeld, And James Westley Welch

After starring in the 1966 film Fantastic Voyage, Raquel Welch became one of the most iconic actresses of the 1960s before tragically passing away at the age of 82. Due to the film’s success, she starred in major films, including 1969’s 100 Rifles and 1967’s Bedazzled.

She also became a global sex icon thanks to her performance as the seductive cavewoman in the 1966 film One Million Years BC, in which she memorably played a wore buff bikini.

In 1975 she received a Golden Globe for her role as Constance de Bonacieux in the comedy/musical The Three Musketeers.

Although Raquel had a successful career, her personal life was not so fortunate. Raquel was married four times: to James Welch from 1959 to 1964; from 1967 to 1972 to Patrick Curtis; from 1980 to 1990 her longest marriage was to André Weinfeld; and to Richard Palmer from 1999 to 2004.

The legendary actress opened up about her lack of lasting love for Piers Morgan on his Life Stories show in 2015, saying, “I’m too stuck.” I’m happy because I like what I do, I really like who I am, and I’m doing pretty well. I don’t have to have a man.

James Westley Welch

James and Raquel were high school sweethearts. In her 2010 memoir Raquel: Beyond the Cleavage, the actress recalled being so in love with “Jim,” as she called him, that she became wildly distracted from her studies.

“I was always happy to see him and chattered senselessly out of sheer excitement. He, on the other hand, said almost nothing! If he did, he might have found out how little we had in common … but my schoolgirl has crush on Jim made me think he was the man of my dreams,” she recalled of Jim, who she didn’t have, according to ABC News.

Shortly after graduating from high school, the couple married in Las Vegas over Raquel’s father’s objections. She said that by marrying Jim she acted selfishly and essentially went against her father’s wishes. What I didn’t expect was how a series of events would intertwine and significantly disrupt my life.

Jim and I had just moved in together and were adjusting to the realities of married life: he was contacting my mother 10 times a day for recipes and advice on cleaning supplies, and he was looking for a job.

She also revealed that the accident that led to her first pregnancy shattered her career aspirations. “Most of those around me were shocked to see my plans so drastically derailed. But deep down in my feminine spirit, I still believed we were meant to be together,” she says of their innocent love.

I’m too sick to change my mind. it was something that had to end. And fortunately, we were blessed with two beautiful, healthy children. Damon Welch, the son of Raquel and Jim, was born in 1959. Their daughter, Latanne “Tahnee” Welch, was born in 1961.

Patrick Curtis

Before Raquel found fame, she was married to Hollywood producer Patrick Curtis. They worked together on the 1965 film A Swingin’ Summer and two years later they married the mayor of Paris.

Their 1972 divorce made it Raquel’s shortest union. Patrick passed away in November 2022 at the age of 83.

Andre Weinfeld

The second director to win Raquel’s affection is André Weinfeld. The couple married in 1980 and were together for ten years. In a 2015 interview, Andre told Closer Weekly, “We had a wonderful wedding.”

He continued, “Today, three months is considered a long time for marriages in Hollywood. She added that the reason her marriage fell apart was that she stayed in New York after the Trouble in Paradise actress returned to Los Angeles.”

Richie Palmer

As Richard Palmer appeared in the New York Post in 2000, he owned four restaurants in Southern California that served New York-style pizza and had a fifth on the way. The publication claims that the New Yorker and his Hollywood star first met at a party in 1996.

Three years later, they performed at the wedding. He boasted, “My wife is a living legend”.

“When I fight, I have great places. You travel wherever you want. It’s awesome. Unfortunately, his performance ended after his divorce in 2004.”

In her 2015 interview, Raquel Piers Morgan admitted that the reason their marriages didn’t last was because of their fame. They enjoy the general appeal and the dancing we do, she continued, “but they really don’t like the fact that when we go somewhere together, I become the person I focus on.”

Raquel said she loved each of her husbands, no matter how the marriages began or ended.

“I really felt a connection to each of these men. I thought I was really in love and that we could have a wonderful life together back then, but it wasn’t to be,” she said.

She also assured Piers that she was “happy” to be single. He thought, ‘I feel like I’ve lived a really nice and beautiful life.’ I’m not sure what’s coming. I’m not really upset about it.
