Punjab Pledges Rs1.5 Bln To Take Over PM’s Laptop Scheme 2022

The Punjab Govt has decided to restart the Chief Minister (CM) Laptop Scheme 2022 which provides talented students with free laptops to help them with their studies.

According to the details, the provincial government has earmarked Rs 1,500 crore for the CM laptop program in the annual budget for the financial year 2022-23. During the provincial budget presentation on Wednesday, Finance and Revenue Minister Sardar Awais Ahmed Laghari announced that the Treasury had allocated more rupees. 485 billion for the education sector.

Out of the total budget, Rs. 428.5 billion has been allocated for non-development costs such as salaries, pensions, and other expenses, while Rs. 56.7 billion has been allocated for development costs such as the establishment of new schools, colleges, and universities.

Rs 421 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of School Education. Of the total allocation, Rs. 382 crore is earmarked for non-development expenditures while Rs. 39 crore is earmarked for development projects.

Rs 59,000 crore has been allocated to the Department of Higher Education. Of the total allocation, Rs. 45.5 crore is earmarked for non-development costs while Rs. 13.5 crore is spent on development projects.

Rs 1.5 billion has been allocated to the Department of Special Education, while the Department of Literacy and Non-Formal Education will receive Rs 3.6 billion for the financial year 2022-23.
