Pakistan Overtakes India And Ranks Second In ICC T20 Rankings

Pakistan finished second in the ICC T20 rankings on Friday, relegating India to third place.

As per the latest ranking, Pakistan is second behind England with 5 wickets after beating Afghanistan.

Before the start of the ICC tournament, Pakistan was five points behind India. Three consecutive victories have earned the green jerseys decisive points in the standings.

The men in green are now in second place with 265 points, while India has 264 points.

England is still in the lead with 279 points. The ranking will continue to evolve during the competition.

Cricket’s governing body also updated the individual player rankings on Wednesday, as per which Pakistanis Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi have significantly improved their position.

After his outstanding performance in World Cup matches against India and New Zealand, Haris Rauf placed in the top 20 while Shaheen Shah Afridi closed the gap to enter the top 10 bowlers. Among the hitters, Mohammad Rizwan moved closer to the top 3.

Rizwan, who was seventh in the Hitters standings before the start of the World Cup, jumped three places to fourth, behind Dawid Malan, Babar Azam, and Aiden Markram.

Rizwan scored 79 against India and 33 against New Zealand in the first two matches of the T20 World Cup.

Pakistani captain Babar Azam retains second place in the batting standings. However, he closed the gap with leader Dawid Malan.
