Over 60% Of Workers in The UAE Are Dissatisfied With Their Current Job

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), a major hub for real estate, investment, and career opportunities, has failed to create a better work environment for employees.

A recent joint report by YouGov and Bayt, a research firm and job search website, revealed that more than 61% of Emirati workers are dissatisfied with their current job and would like to change while staying in the same industry.

According to the report, 34% are dissatisfied with their current industry and 38% intend to move to another country in the Middle East.

2,941 employees in the United Arab Emirates were surveyed for the report, of which 29% were middle managers and 23% were executives.

The results also highlighted that wages are not the main factor behind low retention rates in the UAE labor market, as most workers believed their wages would increase or stay the same, and 48% of them did not expect an increase in 2023.

Another report, Michael Page’s 2023 Salary Guide and Hiring Insights, published last November, showed that 43% of employees in the UAE plan to change jobs for professional development because they believe that they have reached their limits in their current role.

According to YouGov research director Zafar Shah, the survey results show the labor market situation from the employee’s perspective and help employers understand what is best for employees and employers.

He also said that while financial incentives are key to attracting talent, non-financial rewards can also play an important role in employee retention.
