The 2020 Mouza census released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics found that only 64% of rural areas in Pakistan have primary schools for girls.

The report highlights a worrying decline in educational facilities for girls in rural areas. As a result, there were primary schools for girls in 81 percent of rural areas in 2008, but that number has dropped significantly to 64 percent in 2020.

Statistics from girls’ universities are equally worrying: in 2008 there were only 30% of rural areas, in 2020 only 25%.

On the contrary, the number of Lycées / Lycées has improved. Only nine percent of rural areas had secondary schools for girls; in 2020 the figure will be 11 percent.

A statistical analysis shows that the supply of primary schools for girls is highest in rural areas of Punjab (78 percent). Then comes the federal capital with 65%, 61% in Sindh, 55% in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and 33% in Baluchistan.

Islamabad had the highest number of girls’ colleges in its rural areas (35%) of its rural areas in 2020, followed by Punjab (31%), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (25%), Sindh (21%), and Baluchistan (11%) . . .

In 26 percent of rural areas, the federal capital is once again the leader in secondary schools for girls. They are followed by Punjab (13 percent, KP (12 percent), Sindh (nine percent), and Baluchistan (five percent).

Statistics also show that educational institutions for children have increased in importance, as the proportion of rural areas with elementary, middle, and high schools increased significantly in 2020 compared to 2008.
