Sindh’s New Inter Admissions Policy Puts 1.5 Million Students In Dire Straits

The Education Directorate of Sindh University has released a new provincial admission policy for the first year with new and complex conditions that have caused problems for nearly 1.5 million students and their parents.

Under the new admission policy, students must present their residency, primary and secondary certificates to be admitted to a university in Sindh. Those who do not meet the requirements cannot register for the intermediate sessions and are not admitted to the exam.

Despite a strict admissions policy, the university has not established a university complaint center for the first time in 21 years. This means that students who do not agree with the list of achievements and wish to challenge it or wish to be admitted to another university with the prescribed achievements must resubmit the online application.

University directors have been strictly urged to follow the new admissions policy and only grant admission to students who provide full documentation.

“The department makes it clear to school principals that enrollment forms for students on the income list should not be sent to the board until they meet the stated criteria,” the deputy head of the school said. Directorate of Higher Education, Rashid Khoso.

He explained the reason for the move: “Today fake addresses are being used and with this decision, we want to see how many students actually live in Karachi or outside Sindh. Once we have those numbers, we can split the fees to universities like Punjab.”

On the other hand, the University Education Department also claimed to have created 20,000 new jobs in Karachi State Universities, bringing their number to 140,000. However, the infrastructure situation in Sindh public universities, including Karachi, is very bad.
