Eid Holidays 2023 Officially Announced By KHDA For Dubai Schools

The Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced the official dates for Eid Al-Fitr celebrations in schools. The break begins on Thursday, April 20th, and ends on Shawwal 3, subject to a moon sighting.

KHDA took to Twitter to wish everyone a “Happy Eid” noting that the Eid holiday will begin on Thursday 3 Shawwal. The agency also noted that Shawwal’s announcement will come the first day after the moon sighting, which is expected tomorrow.

In addition, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has also encouraged Muslim residents to look for the crescent moon on Thursday evening, which will herald the 1st Shawwal and also Eid Al-Fitr the following day.

The country’s moon sighting committee has issued orders asking people seeing the crescent to report it by contacting 026921166 so they can testify in court and help decide when Eid Al-Fitr will take place.

If the moon is visible on Thursday, April 20th, Eid will begin on Friday, April 21st. On the other hand, the International Astronomical Center (IAC) has said that Eid is likely to fall on Saturday, April 22, with 1 Shawwal Crescent being sighted on Friday evening.

If Eid falls on a Friday, residents have four vacation days from Thursday to Sunday. If it falls on a Saturday, the party lasts five days, from Thursday to Monday.
