Twitter unexpectedly cut employees’ access to their work computers and systems and began firing people en masse. While many laid-off employees took to Twitter to share the sad news, one worker announced his layoff in a positive light.

The tweet received more than 42,000 likes and more than 3,000 retweets, making it a viral hit.

Twitter employees received an email notification that the layoffs would begin on Friday. Elon Musk, nicknamed “Chief Twit,” is said to have fired about half of Twitter’s 7,500 employees.
Musk defended his decision to lay off Twitter employees by saying the microblogging service is losing more than $4 million a day.
“Unfortunately, with the company losing over $4 million a day, Twitter has no choice but to downsize. Everyone who was fired received 3 months severance pay, which is 50% more than the law requires,” Musk said.
