UAE Changed The Process And Requirements For Emirates IDs And Passports

The United Arab Emirates has published an updated set of requirements to be followed when taking photos for identity purposes so that they can be easily read by intelligent photo recognition systems.

The Federal Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security Authority (ICP) has established a set of requirements that a photo must meet in order to be approved by smart readers under International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

According to the instructions, the picture must be of high quality, colorful, and not older than 6 months. The required dimensions are 35mm x 40mm. The background should be white, the facial expressions should be kept neutral and exaggerated facial expressions should be avoided.

In addition, you need to ensure that the position of the head is parallel to the photo lens, the head should not be tilted or bent to the side.

The guidelines prohibit colored lenses or the use of photo editing or filters, as well as any type of glasses that obscure the eyes.

Glasses that do not cover the eyes are allowed. Citizens are permitted to take photographs in UAE official dress, however, the use of a headscarf or head covering is left to the discretion of the individual.

The image resolution must be at least 600 dpi.
