The United Arab Emirates Launch Direct Flights To Skardu

The Prime Minister’s (PM) Tourism and Sports Advisor, Aun Chaudhry, has announced that the federal government is in talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to launch direct flights to Skardu, a popular tourist spot in Gilgit-Baltistan (UK).

A 25-strong delegation led by Aun attended the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 in Dubai. As reported by Gulf Today, Aun said direct flights between the UAE and Skardu will boost tourism in the northern regions.

He mentioned that he was instructed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take important steps in cooperation with the private sector to increase tourism in the country.

Since Pakistan has the potential to develop its tourism industry, the government should help travelers explore attractive destinations in places like Skardu, he said.

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has set up a pavilion at ATM 2023 in cooperation with other organizations such as the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Pearl Continental Hotels, Hashoo Group, etc.

The Prime Minister’s Advisor also commended the Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates and TDAP for their efforts to support Pakistani exhibitors to attend the event.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Faisal Niaz Tirmizi called Pakistan’s involvement in ATM after a long hiatus a major step forward that will boost tourism in the country and improve its image on a global scale.

PTDC Executive Director Aftab Rana noted that Pakistan offers outstanding sights, rich culture, heritage, and diverse landscapes.

More than 160 countries and 2,000 exhibitors are participating in ATM 2023. This is the 30th edition of the event, which is part of Arabian Travel Week, a 10-day festival.
