Taliban Shoot Protesters For Raising Afghan Flag

At least three people were killed and a dozen more injured after the Taliban reportedly opened fire on protesters who removed the group’s flag in the Afghan city of Jalalabad on Wednesday.

One day before Independence Day (19th August), protesters replaced the black and white flag of the Taliban at a roundabout in Jalalabad with the black, red, and green flag of the previous Afghan govt.

A video circulating on social media shows several people gathering at the scene, some of whom are reportedly waving anti-Taliban slogans as gunshots are heard in the background.

Another video showed dozens of protesters waving Afghan flags while holding street protests.

It is also said that there was a shooting in Daronta district when a Taliban flag was replaced there.

The Taliban seized control of Afghanistan on Sunday after former President Ashraf Ghan fled the country when fighters invaded the city of Kabul.

Later, the group announced a general amnesty, claiming that they had forgiven everyone, including those who fought against them in the past.
