Sindh Announces Winter Break For Schools And Colleges

The Sindh government announced on Thursday a winter break for all public and private schools and colleges in the province.

The Sindh Education and Literacy Department (SELD) announced that schools and universities will be closed from December 20, 2021, to January 1, 2022.

The decision was made at the meeting of the Ministry of Education, chaired by Sindh’s Minister of Education, Syed Sardar Ali Shaha.

As per the decision, the schools in the province are to be reopened on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Last week the government of Balochistan announced the closure of all public and private schools on December 15, 2021, for the winter break.

In an official statement, the state education ministry said that schools in winter areas will be closed until the end of February, while schools in summer areas will reopen from January 1, 2022.

The government of Punjab had previously decided to close schools in the province three times a week from November 27th in order to counteract the prevailing smog.

“From November 15 to January 27, public and private schools and all private offices are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays,” the statement said.
