Shannon Gilday was arrested by Kentucky authorities last week for the murder of a former politician’s daughter during a home invasion.
The Kentucky State Police said in a statement that an officer with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office saw Gilday walking down Barnes Mill Road and took him into custody without incident. Gilday is accused of breaking into a home in Taylor Mill on February 22 and fatally shooting 32-year-old Jordan Morgan as he slept in bed.

Death of Jordan Morgan
Kentucky State Police said initial investigations indicate an armed suspect entered the home at 1266 Willis Branch Road outside of Richmond just before 4:30 a.m. It was then that shots were fired, killing the woman, who friends identified as 32-year-old Jordan Morgan.
According to the KSP, shots were then exchanged between the owner and the intruder. As a result, the owner suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital where he was treated and discharged, KSP said in a statement.
The armed suspect left the apartment after the shooting and no arrests were made.
It’s unclear if Jordan Morgan was living at home or visiting at the time of the home invasion.

Gilday faces charges of murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree assault, and attempted murder. The state police did not name a motive.
Statement of The Victim’s Father
After an exchange of gunfire with Gilday, the victim’s father, C. Wesley Morgan, reportedly suffered nonfatal injuries. Gilday fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
The murdered woman was a lawyer while her father was a former MP. C. Wesley Morgan previously told WLEX that he believes an “apocalyptic” bunker in his mansion may have made his home a target.
Gilday’s mother appeared to support this theory in a statement to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
“My son, Shannon Gilday, who I love so dearly, has been insane for the last few weeks, shattered by the knowledge that nuclear war is imminent,” he said.

“He talked about building a bunker and having the CIA follow him. I tried to get him psychiatric help but to no avail.”
C. Wesley Morgan claimed Gilday broke into his home by climbing scaffolding that had been there for a week for the construction of a porch. He also told WLEX that he believed he shot the suspect 11 times, but that he may have been wearing a bulletproof vest at the time of the robbery.
“He shot me three times,” he said. “I was shot twice in the arm and once in the hip.”
