General Qamar Javed Bajwa (قمر جاوید باجوہ) is a General in the Pakistan Army and the tenth and current Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army as of 29th November 2016. Bajwa is expected to retire on 29th November 2022 after the last day of his second three-year term. as chief of the army.

Gen Bajwa hails from Gakhar Mandi and was born into a Punjabi Jat family of the Bajwa clan in Karachi. Bajwa was born at F.G. Sir Syed College and Gordon College in Rawalpindi before joining the Pakistan Military Academy in 1978. Bajwa was commissioned into the 16th Battalion, Baloch Regiment in 1980. General Qamar Javed Bajwa Education

Bajwa was educated at FG Sir Syed College and Gordon College, Rawalpindi before joining the Pakistan Military Academy in 1978.

Bajwa completed his secondary and junior high education at FG Sir Syed College and Gordon College, Rawalpindi before joining the Pakistan Army in 1978 leading to the Military Academy. He was sent to the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul and lost consciousness in 1980.

Bajwa graduated from the Canadian Army Command and General Staff College and Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, USA, and the National Defense University in Islamabad.

After joining the Pakistan Army in 1978, Bajwa, who was enrolled at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, passed out with the class of the 62nd PMA Long Course and was commissioned on 16th October 1980 as the 16th Second Lieutenant Baloch. The appointment drew media comment, which suggested Lt. General Bajwa had been assigned three times to X Corps, the army’s largest and most important corps with experience in keeping the situation in Kashmir under control.

In 2014, Lt. Gen. Bajwa was promoted to Commander-in-Chief of the Baloch Regiment.

On 22nd September 2015, Lt. General Bajwa was assigned to Headquarters when he was appointed Inspector General of Training and Evaluation (IGT&E). There he was staff officer to the Army Chief of Staff, General Raheel Sharif.
