Maher Maaroufe is a Tunisian national wanted by police for the murder of Sabita Thanwani. Police have dubbed the young woman who was killed in central London student accommodation as Sabita Thanwani.
Maaroufe was known to have had a relationship with Ms. Thanwani.

On Saturday, the 19-year-old was discovered with serious neck injuries at Arbor House, student accommodation on Sebastian Street, Clerkenwell.
Although her body has not been officially identified, “Sabita’s family has been notified and is being assisted by specialist officers,” Scotland Yard said.
She was found on Saturday morning and pronounced dead despite help from paramedics at the scene.
She is said to have studied at the City, University of London and was a British citizen, police said.

DCI Linda Bradley said, “Maaroufe had a relationship with Sabita, but he wasn’t a student.”
DCI Bradley added on Sunday morning: “I am once again appealing to Maher Maaroufe to report to the police station immediately.”
“Maher, I address this appeal directly to you: If you see this, please go to the nearest police station. It’s important that we talk to you.”
19-year-old student Angelina Miats, who lives on the second floor of the Arbor House, said people were “very scared by what happened,” adding, “I don’t feel safe.”
