What was the Dog Jacqueline Durand Accident?

That day when he was in the Coppell home of Ashley Bishop and Dr. Justin Bishop, the dog’s owner, showed up and “without provocation opened the front door to the dogs the Bishops had locked out of their kennel, pushed them open and brutally assaulted Jaqueline,” the lawsuit says.

“The dogs threw Jacqueline off balance, causing her to fall and drop her cell phone,” the lawsuit reads. “Then the dogs brutally attacked her head and face, disastrously mutilating her.”

“The dogs were so violent and bloodthirsty that they took all of Jacqueline’s clothes, including her blue jeans. The dogs tore off Jacqueline’s ears, nose, lips, and most of her face underneath and ate her”, the lawsuit says.

“During their sustained attack, the dogs left stab wounds on most of her body,” read the filing, which says the young woman underwent “multiple surgeries.”

Lawsuit

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Dallas County by attorney Chip Brooker, includes a photo of a “disruptive sign” on the couple’s front door that read: “Crazy Dogs.”

According to the lawsuit, Durand had previously spoken about working with Ashley Bishop as a dog sitter at her home, where she also met the two dogs “without incident.”

Apart from the ‘Crazy Dogs’ sign that hung on the front door of the bishop’s house, Mrs. Bishop did not warn Jacqueline of the dog’s dangerous tendencies,” the suit reads.

“Ms. However, Bishop pointed out that the family raises the dogs when they are not at home,” she adds.

Before Durand arrived one fateful day, “Ashley Bishop texted him and informed Jacqueline that contrary to Bishop’s usual practice, they were letting the dogs out of their kennels,” the document reads.

The lawsuit accused a couple of negligence by allegedly failing to control, secure and train the animals and “failed to provide their guests with a safe environment.”

The lawsuit says Durand is seeking a jury trial and more than $1 million in damages.

According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, a city judge ruled that the two dogs in the care of the city of Coppell should be euthanized.

The outlet reported that Durand’s attorneys appealed the order to give them time to inspect the animals.

Brooker said he was “shocked” by his client’s strength on Thursday.

“It’s an everyday journey for Jacqueline right now,” he told NBC News, adding that the bishops had not apologized to Durand.

The bishops could not immediately get comments from NBC News.
