Who is Alun Titford? Biography, Wiki

Alun Titford, the father of a disabled girl who died of morbid obesity, has been convicted of grossly negligent homicide.

Kaylea Titford weighed over 50 pounds when she was found dead at her home in Newtown, Wales by paramedics in October 2020.

His current age is 45 years.

What Was The Trial?

The court heard Kaylea had been released from physical therapy and dietary services in the years leading up to her death and was last seen by a social worker at her home in 2017. Titford claimed that Lloyd-Jones, a social worker, was responsible for caring for Kaylea.

He said he used to take her to doctor appointments and take care of her, but resigned when she hit puberty because he wasn’t well. Titford, of Colwyn, Newtown, will be sentenced on March 1. Until then, he will remain out on bail and a prejudice report will be filed.

A spokesman for Powys County Council said: “A brief review of children’s practices will take place and involve all relevant authorities in accordance with a clear legal framework once the court case is complete.” The local authority is unable to comment until this process is complete.”

Father Found Guilty Of Killing The Girl

Early in the Titford trial, prosecutor Caroline Rees KC said Kaylea suffered from spina bifida, a back condition, and hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid in the brain, and had used a wheelchair since childhood.

She attended Newtown High School, where staff described her as “fun and talkative,” but found herself confined to her home after the coronavirus lockdown began in March 2020, Rees said.

Kaylea lived in “misery and humiliation,” and when paramedics found her dead, she was lying on dirty “puppy pads,” with maggots and flies all over her body, and milk bottles filled with milk urine around her bed.

Ms. Rees said: “Kaylea Titford lived in conditions that were unsuitable for any animal, let alone a vulnerable 16-year-old girl who was completely dependent on others for her care.”

Kaylea was extremely obese with dirty, matted hair, an unwashed body, and ulcerated skin, the court heard.

On the morning of Oct. 10, 2020, the court heard, Titford’s mother called 999 before paramedics showed up and found Kayla’s body. Officers noticed an “intolerable” foul odor and maggots crawling on the bed, they told jurors.

The court heard that her sheets were dirty and that she was lying on multiple puppy training mats. His room was reportedly filthy and untidy, with urine bottles and a deep fryer with grease dripping down the side, and a full cake in a box.

Ms. Rees said: “Prosecutors say that the scene, as evidenced by those present and the condition in which Kayla’s body was found, clearly shows that this vulnerable child is suffering greatly in relation to her social needs and was dependent on others, was severely neglected not just one but both of her parents who owed her a duty of care.”

Ms. Rees said pathologist Dr. Deryk James examined Kaylea and said her physical condition suggested she had not bathed properly for several weeks. It ruled that her death was the result of “inflammation and infection in large areas of ulcers arising from obesity and its complications and immobility in a girl with spina bifida and hydrocephalus,” the court said.

Ms. Rees said forensic podiatry specialist David Blake found that even changing Kaylee’s socks regularly seemed to have been ignored. A forensic entomologist said the test worms that were feeding on Kayla’s body were at least 48 hours old when they examined her.
