Interim Interior Minister Dr. Gohar Ejaz stated that the caretaker government would consider internet shutdowns on February 8, the day of the elections, only if formally requested by a district or province due to security concerns.

He clarified alongside interim Information Minister Murtaza Solangi that no decision had been made regarding internet suspensions. Solangi emphasized that there were no plans for an internet shutdown on February 8, although local authorities could implement such measures if required by law and order conditions, which currently hadn’t arisen.

Caretaker Information Minister of Balochistan Jan Achakzai disclosed plans for temporary internet restrictions at sensitive polling stations in the province. Ejaz reiterated the government’s commitment to peaceful elections without loss of life and noted a lack of tension between candidates in Balochistan. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority confirmed there would be no internet shutdown on election day.
