How To Apply Schengen Visa in Dubai?

Residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can apply for a Schengen visa, which allows entry into several European countries. These include Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Finland, Norway, Poland and many more.

Schengen visa holders can enter these countries without a passport and without border controls.

A person can stay in these countries for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. People apply for a Schengen visa mainly for tourism, business, study or family travel.

Border guards can refuse entry to Schengen visa holders if they pose a risk or do not meet certain entry requirements.

Due to exceptional demand, UAE residents must apply for a Schengen visa six months in advance. You can submit the application to the embassy or consulate of a Schengen country.

Schengen Visa Entry Requirements

As of May 2015, United Arab Emirates passport holders do not require a Schengen visa to enter the listed countries. However, you will need to apply for a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) visa in 2024. This visa was introduced as a visa-free visa for visitors from the European Union (EU) or the Schengen area. The period of validity is 3 years.

The following documents are required for UAE citizens to enter the Schengen area:

  • Passport or UAE travel document valid for at least three months beyond stay in Europe.
  • Evidence demonstrating the purpose of the visit.
  • Proof of financial stability.
  • Each country may have its own required documents.

Types of Schengen Visas

The Schengen area offers four types of visas, including business, tourist, visitor and transit visas. Each type has its own criteria.
