Hackers Steal Nearly $97 Mln From Japan’s Top Crypto Liquid Exchange

After the Poly Network hack, a Japanese crypto Liquid exchange was also hacked and suffered a loss of nearly $94 million.

“We regret to report that the #LiquidGlobal hot wallets have been compromised, we are moving assets to the cold wallet,” he said on Twitter, adding that deposits and withdrawals have been suspended.

Liquid later said he was tracking asset transfers and working with other exchanges to freeze and restore the money.

‘Hot’ or ‘hot’ digital wallets are generally web-based and are designed to make bitcoin easier for users to access. Cold wallets are offline and more difficult to access, making them more secure.

Elliptic, a London-based blockchain analytics company, said the thief’s digital addresses received more than $94 million in digital currency, including around $31 million in Ethereum, $5 million in Bitcoin and 13 Mln US dollars in XRP.

Elliptic reported that tokens worth $45 million were also taken in connection with the Ethereum blockchain.

The hacker (s) convert some of these tokens into ether cryptocurrency through a decentralized (peer-to-peer) exchange, he added.

Elliptic said he was helping Liquid track down the stolen funds.

What is Liquid Exchange?

Liquid is the new exchange in Japan that has been heavily hacked. Liquid operates in over 100 countries and serves millions of customers around the world.
