Louisville, Ky. Murder-Suicide
“Officials from the 3rd Division of the LMPD responded to a call for a mass shooting at Block 4500 of E. Pages Lane,” Louisville Police Department said in a statement.
“When officers arrived they found 4 victims in the home, an adult man, an adult woman, and 2 young women, dying from apparent gunshot wounds.”
Authorities believe Gary Stanton killed the others before turning the gun on himself.
“We are fairly certain that the incident will be a murder-suicide situation in which the adult man who shot all three women was the main perpetrator,” LMPD Major Micah Scheu said afterward, according to WDRB. com.
Mary’s sister Emily Muchemi said she spoke to Mary often and “nothing seemed to be working out” before Saturday’s violence.
“We talk and joke every day,” he said, according to WDRB.
The outlet reports that Mary reportedly took a job at an adult daycare center after training to be a nurse.
In a GoFundMe campaign for funeral expenses, Emily Muchemi wrote that her father died suddenly in November and the sisters recently traveled to Kenya for his funeral.
Emily told WDRB that her two late nieces were bright and up and coming. The oldest, Andrianna, was a high school student planning to graduate in the spring. It is unknown what prompted Gary Stanton to kill his family.
However, according to a statement from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Mary and Adrianna were shot multiple times, while Brianna was shot only once. The senior pastor of the family church, Patrick Bissig, said he was not close to the family: “From the outside, it looked like a traditional happy family,” according to WHAS11.com.
