The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to grant an extension for filing income tax returns to non-filer officers, pushing the deadline to December 6, 2023 (Wednesday).

In response to this, the FBR, on November 30, 2023, opted to extend the deadline for income tax return filing. In addition to the extension, the FBR communicated its decision through a letter addressed to the Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue, focusing on the filing requirements for officers in the Basic Scale (BS) 17 or above.

According to the directive outlined in the letter, officers in BS-17 or above were mandated to electronically file their income tax returns for the Tax Year (TY) 2023. Furthermore, these officers were required to submit a duly signed certificate confirming compliance with this obligation to the FBR by December 6. The letter emphasized that the essential information, endorsed by the respective Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue, should be emailed before the specified due date.
