Election Commission Introduces New System For Free And Fair Elections

The Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has developed a new Election Management System (EMS) for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The ECP says the new system will strengthen its ability to organize free, fair, transparent, and inclusive elections.

The EMS is an important step towards modernizing the electoral process in Pakistan. In order to increase awareness and understanding of the system, a two-day training program was organized for IT managers, the project management unit, and the electoral wing of the ECP. The training provided officers with the knowledge they need to use EMS effectively for efficient and safe elections.

The ECP also extended the deadline for voter registration, data correction, disqualification, and transfer of votes to July 20. This makes it easier for people to register to vote and update their voter information.

The public can obtain information about their vote by sending their CNIC ID card number to 8300. Registration, Transfer, Objection/Exclusion, and Rectification forms can be downloaded from the PCE or requested from the District Elections Commissioner’s office.

According to voter rolls released on May 31, there are 125,963,598 registered voters in Pakistan. However, the proportion of registered female voters fell slightly, widening the gender gap.

Punjab has the highest number of registered voters with 71,606,379 followed by Sindh with 26,488,841 voters. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have 21,582,556 and 5,260,247 registered voters respectively. The Capital Territory of Islamabad has 1,025,575 registered voters.

The new EMS is a welcome development that will help ensure that the upcoming general elections are free, fair, transparent, and inclusive. The ECP has taken several steps to publicize the system and facilitate voter registration. With the new system, the ECP is well-positioned to conduct a successful election.
