Authorities said Donovan Heavener was a Federal Way police officer who was shot dead on his morning run after confronting two burglars trying to break into a local business on Sunday morning.
As per the Puyallup Police, the officer was jogging when he encountered two men allegedly trying to break into Jennings’ team at 1030 River Road.

His age isn’t cleared yet.

As per the police, the officer stopped on the sidewalk and was shot dead by one of the suspects.
As per the police, the officer was seriously injured but is expected to survive. The federal police identified the officer as Donovan Heavener. He joined the Federal Road Police in 1996 and has worked in law enforcement for 27 years.
The two men then left in separate vehicles. The vehicles were white or silver four-door pickups with dark tires, tinted windows, and a missing or lowered tailgate.
The white or silver car fled east on River Road towards North Meridian and south on North Meridian.
The second suspicious vehicle is a dark-colored pickup truck that fled south on Northwest 11th Street.

The police are asking any companies or houses in the area that have cameras to search for suspicious vehicles that have been identified as white or silver pickups and black pickups.
