Bryan Alexis Cifuentes, a Los Angeles-area man accused of punching a San Francisco 49ers fan outside of an NFL playoff game that put the victim in a coma, has been charged with criminal charges.
Cifuentes faces aggravated assault charges in the Jan. 30 incident, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon said Wednesday.

Cifuentes met Daniel Luna, 40, outside SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles while the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams were playing in the NFC Championship Game.
Luna, an Oakland restaurant owner who was in town for the game, suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a medically compromised coma until about a week ago, said Jonathan Davis, her attorney.
He’s in a rehab facility in Northern California. Part of Luna’s skull had to be removed and she must wear a helmet, for now, Davis said Wednesday night.

“Considering his initial prognosis, he’s made a great recovery, but he still has a long way to go,” Davis said.
Cifuentes acted in self-defense, his lawyer Ambrosio Rodríguez said on Wednesday evening.
“It feels bad,” Rodriguez said. He said that Cifuentes was excited to go to a football match and was attacked and never wanted or wanted such a serious injury to happen.
Police Investigation Report
Authorities said the pair clashed outside Inglewood Stadium before Cifuentes punched Luna.
Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. said at the time of the incident that surveillance video showed Luna mingling with a group of people wearing 49ers jerseys.
Luna pushed a man in a Rams jersey from behind, and when Luna turned to walk away, the man pushed Luna, the mayor said after seeing the video, adding that when Luna turned, the man hit him in the mouth and Luna fell and hit his head.
