British Council Offers Scholarships For Women

The British Council has created a scholarship program called Women in STEM. This program offers a unique opportunity for women with a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree and a strong passion for their field of study.

The program aims to provide prestigious scholarships to study for a Master’s in STEM fields at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom (UK).

Now in its third year, the Women’s STEM Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative of the British Council and 21 of the UK’s top universities. Her goal is to support and empower women from different regions including America, South Asia, East Asia, Western Balkans, Central Asia, Brazil, Egypt, Mexico, and Turkey.

A key selection criterion is demonstrating financial need and a genuine desire to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM fields.

Applicants from Pakistan are eligible to apply for Master’s Scholarships and Early College Scholarships through the Women in STEM program.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Ability to study in the UK for the academic year beginning September/October 2023 to 2024.
  • Proof of financial support needs.
  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree giving access to one of the selected postgraduate courses at a UK university (for master’s level) or completion of all components of a doctoral thesis. in the last three years (for first scholarships).
  • Knowledge of the English language is required for postgraduate study or research at a UK university.
  • Active participation in the field with professional experience or proven interest in the chosen field.
  • Great passion for your chosen course and a willingness to get involved as a dedicated former British Council Scholar.

Ineligible Candidates

Candidates are not eligible for the British Council grants for women in STEM if:

  • Possess dual British citizenship.
  • Are currently or have been employed by Her Majesty’s Government including UK Embassies/High Commissions, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, the Department of Defense, or the Home Office.
  • Currently employed or have been employed by the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM-eligible countries.
  • Have a family relationship with an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of the above government institutions.
