Ashli Babbitt was a supporter of Donald Trump who was shot dead in Washington DC during the Capitol Riots on January 6, 2021.
Babbitt, 35, stormed the Capitol and allegedly filmed falling into chaos shortly before she was assassinated.
Who Shot Ashli Babbitt?
In an interview with Zenger News, Ashli Babbitt’s family lawyer Terry Roberts named Lt. Michael Leroy Byrd as the cop who killed the Air Force veteran.
The Capitol Police officer’s name is believed to have been known to the United States Capitol Police, Congressional personnel, and the federal investigation; but no one would give it away.
“The United States Congress wants to protect this man. He has friends in high positions and they want to protect him,” Maryland attorney Roberts told the outlet.
“And they did a good job. … I don’t think this is a proud moment for the Capitol Police or the United States Congress.”
What Happened During The Capitol Riot Shooting?
Ashli Babbitt was shot in the chest during the mayhem at the Capitol on 6th January 2021.
It was part of a march intended to interrupt formal confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
In the confusion inside, a gunshot rang out and Ms. Babbitt fell to the ground, according to pictures posted on Twitter.
Police said he was shot after entering the building and trying to enter the chamber’s bedroom.
Another Trump supporter who witnessed Babbitt told WUSA 9: “Various police and intelligence agencies said: ‘Back, down, away”.
“She didn’t answer the call and when we rushed to catch people and push back, they shot her in the neck and fell on me.”
“And she started saying, ‘that’s cool, that’s great,’ and then she started moving a little weird and blood was flowing out of her mouth, throat, and nose and I don’t know if she’s dead or alive.”
He added, “I’m not hurt … I could have been, but she went in first.”
