Alexandria Bell and Jean Kuczka were about to celebrate exciting milestones in their lives.
Alexandria was looking forward to traveling to Los Angeles to celebrate her 16th birthday, her father Andre Bell told CNN affiliate KSDK.
Kuczka, 61, was nearing retirement after a long and illustrious teaching career, her daughter Abigail Kuczka told CNN.

A gunman entered Kuczka’s classroom, Room 323, and Kuczka stepped forward to protect the students, her daughter was told. It wasn’t immediately clear why the shooter had gone to her room, or if she was targeting a specific teacher.
Alexandria Bell, 16, was also killed in the shooting spree before police stormed the school at 3125 South Kingshighway, killing the gunman, who police identified Monday night as Orlando Harris, 19, a senior high school graduate.
“My mother loved children,” said her daughter Abigail Kuczka.
“She loved her students. I know her students looked at her as if she were their mother.”
Tenth-Grader Alexandria Bell Was A Talented Dancer
Alexandria was a member of the dance group Saint Louis Dazzling Diamonds. Her fellow dancers created a poster with Alexandria’s picture, which is now part of a growing memorial in front of the school.
Her friend Dejah Robinson said the two were planning to celebrate Halloween this weekend.
“She was always funny and always had a smile on her face and made everyone laugh,” said Robinson, fighting back tears.
Robinson, who attends a different school, said he wants lawmakers to address gun control.
“They knew what was going on and they could have done something about it,” he said.
“But they clearly aren’t doing anything, and they won’t do it.”
Alexandria’s father said his daughter was getting better every day.
“Alexandria was everything to me. She was happy, wonderful and just a great person,” Bell told KSDK.
“She was the girl I liked to see and hear. No matter how I felt, I could always talk to her and it was okay. She was my baby.”
But Alexandria could not comfort her father in his most fantastic time of need.
She wonders why someone took her daughter’s life.
“It’s a nightmare,” he said. “I’m so upset. I need someone, the police, people in the community, someone to understand this.”
