Abu Dhabi Government Unveils Ramadan Working Hours for Employees

The Abu Dhabi government has announced the official working hours for public sector employees during Ramadan 2024. From Monday to Thursday, employees will work from 9 am to 2.30 pm, while on Fridays, the hours will be from 9 am to 12 pm.

Notably, on Fridays, up to 70% of government staff who don’t need to be on-site are allowed to work remotely.

Federal employees across the UAE will also have reduced working hours during Ramadan, following directives from The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR). They will work 3.5 hours less from Monday to Thursday and 1.5 hours less on Fridays, with consistency enforced across all ministries and federal agencies.

Private sector employees, guided by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), will see a two-hour reduction in their daily work hours during Ramadan. Companies have the flexibility to choose between flexible or remote work arrangements based on their operational needs.

These measures aim to accommodate the spiritual and cultural observances of Ramadan while ensuring operational efficiency. Employees are encouraged to stay informed about any updates or changes to working hours and arrangements during this period.
