Electricity Prices Decreased in Pakistan

Islamabad – NEPRA has announced a cut in electricity tariffs through the monthly Fuel Charge Adjustment plan, offering some relief to households across Pakistan.

An official notice states that the average monthly fuel cost has dropped by Rs. 2.1240 per unit. The new rate stands at Rs. 10.8860 per kWh, reduced from Rs. 13.0100 per kWh.

In Karachi, consumers will see a reduction of Rs. 3 per unit on their bills, and elsewhere, the decrease is Rs. 2.12 per unit. These changes will be reflected on March 2025 bills. For K-Electric customers, the adjustment is linked to the December 2024 figures; in other parts of the country, the update follows the January 2025 adjustment.

Most consumer categories will benefit from this tariff cut. Exemptions include lifeline users, protected users, stations for charging electric vehicles, prepaid customers, and a few others.

Last month, the government brought back a relief program for households using up to 300 units and for agricultural tube-well users, easing the financial strain on families and farmers. This program, which had been stopped in June 2015, is now in effect again.
