Who Came Home With ‘Survivor 44’ Tonight?

Right from the start, Survivor 44 proved to be unlike any previous season. During the two-hour premiere, one castaway was removed from the series after just 12 hours, both challenges were temporarily halted, and new twists and perks resulted in the most messy first vote in series history.

Bruce Perrault

Bruce was incredibly eager to dive into the game. Unfortunately, he literally did, and a few steps into the first challenge, he was hit in the head. It was enough to bring him to his knees and stop the game in the competition.

Bruce’s condition appeared to improve immediately after doctors gave the all-clear, but he ran into a wall as soon as night fell. Bruce had to be taken out of the game on the first night because his head killed him, leaving him and his tribe heartbroken.

Maddy Pomille

Maddy was immediately ready to play hardball because she quit her job to join Survivor. She thought that Brandon had already become too powerful in the game after he managed to free an idol from the cage that appeared in the camp. She attempted to harass the NFL player and rallied the group behind a plan to surprise him with an idol in his pocket. But chaos prevailed over order in this situation.

To protect her, Jaime and Matthew each played their Shots in the Dark, leading Brandon to describe his idol. And Brandon received the only vote that was enough to eliminate him.

Survivor 44 launched with a bunch of new perks and twists. A cage with a padlock was placed in the middle of the jungle. Upon discovering the tribal key, Brandon used it to open the cage and found an idol and a fake locket inside.

Sarah was also given the “Inheritance Bonus” at the summit, which she must use when the votes are cast in order to receive all of the idols and perks used in this tribal council. Lauren purchased Bank a Vote Advantage, which allowed her to abstain from voting during a tribal council and then get an extra vote.

Surprisingly, many benefits were revealed during the first tribal council. Both Jaime and Matthew participated in the Shot in the Dark, giving up their votes for a one in six chance of emerging victorious. While Jaime managed to gain immunity, Matthew did not. While Lauren decided to reserve her vote for this tribal council, Brandon played the role of his idol.
