‘Vulnerable’ Queen Elizabeth contracted COVID-19 after the safety bubble around her was released

Royal expert Omid Scobie said the dismantling of Queen Elizabeth’s Covid safety bubble sparked her illness.

He was commenting on reports that the monarch had tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

According to a statement from the royal family, his symptoms are “mild” and he intends to continue doing light duty at his residence at Windsor Castle.

Commenting on the report, Finding Freedom writer Scobie said: “I can’t help but feel that the easing of the Covid safety bubble surrounding the Queen has led to today’s news. HMTQ understandably wants to maintain an active task schedule, but those close to him should have done everything possible to protect a vulnerable 95-year-old man at all costs.”

The news comes after Prince Charles, the Queen’s eldest son and heir, tested positive on February 10, two days after meeting his mother in Windsor.

After that, no details were given on whether Queen Elizabeth, who celebrated her 70th jubilee this month, had tested herself for Covid.

She resumed in-person hearings at the castle last week, but complained of stiffness to an attendant and was photographed with a cane.

“Buckingham Palace confirms that the Queen has tested positive for COVID today,” the palace said in a statement.

“Her Majesty is showing mild symptoms of a cold but hopes to resume light duty at Windsor over the next week,” it said.

“She continues to receive medical care and is following all appropriate guidelines.”

Although she usually keeps the Queen’s health a secret, the palace has previously confirmed that she is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
