UAE Bans Citizens Of 20 Countries From Entering Dubai
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has banned visas for people from 20 African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, and Sudan, who want to visit Dubai, reports DW Africa.
According to the reports, many visitors from these countries have overstayed their visas and often worked in the United Arab Emirates without legalizing their stay.
A month ago, Nigeria declared that its citizens under the age of 40 would not be granted a tourist visa to visit the United Arab Emirates. In fact, the United Arab Emirates changed its visa regime and no longer issued tourist visas to young Nigerians unless they were traveling to their families there.
Here is the full list of the 20 African countries whose citizens have been banned from visiting Dubai:
- Ghana
- Sierra Leone
- Sudan
- Cameroon
- Nigeria
- Liberia
- Burundi
- Republic of Guinea
- Gambia
- Togo
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- Senegal
- Benin
- Ivory Coast
- Congo
- Rwanda
- Burkina Faso
- Guinea Bissau
- Comoros
- Uganda
It should also be noted that this is not the first time African countries have faced travel restrictions to Dubai.
On December 29, 2021, Emirates, a major Dubai-based airline, banned passengers from eight African countries from traveling or transiting through Dubai. This is due to concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The list then included countries such as Ghana, Uganda, and Kenya.
