This is What 79% Of UAE Residents Expect From Their Social Environment

A recent report by Dubai-based communications consultancy duke+mir shows that around 8 in 10 people, or 79%, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) would like their social circle to spend less time on social media and smartphones when they are around.

According to duke+mir’s Life and Technology 2023 report, 40% of UAE citizens believe they overuse their smartphones and want to reduce their use.

The consultancy surveyed more than 1,000 people across the country through YouGov, a public opinion and information company, asking for their opinions on lifestyle and technology to learn more about citizens’ behavior and attitudes.

The report also shows that 70% of UAE citizens think it has become extremely difficult to separate work and personal life, especially after the coronavirus has forced people to switch to remote work.

Jonathan Ivan-Duke, co-founder and partner at Duke+mir, concluded that people in the United Arab Emirates struggle to balance their use of technology between work, home, and social life.

Citing the data, he advised citizens to take better control of themselves and enjoy face-to-face interaction.
