The iPhone 15 Pro And Pro Max Will Only Reach A Few Lucky Buyers At Launch

According to a recent report, the upcoming Apple iPhone 15 Pro, and particularly the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will have limited availability after its September launch. This deficiency appears to be due to display production issues at LG Display.

These issues arise from the implementation of a new manufacturing process aimed at reducing the size of the bezel. This appears to be a similar challenge to what Apple has previously faced on some of its Apple Watch models.

According to reports, the screens of LG’s iPhone 15 Pro, and specifically LG’s Pro Max, fail reliability tests during a process that fuses the screen to the metal body.

To address this issue, Apple is currently modifying the design of displays made by LG so they can pass these tests. But as a backup, Apple provides Samsung-made displays that can be used for assembly.

However, these complications are understood to mean that the number of units available at launch will be limited, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max expected to be the hardest to acquire, followed closely by the Pro model.

A different report than the one above suggested that Apple could delay the launch by several weeks. However, this new source challenges that theory and favors the scarcity hypothesis. Whatever the reason, it’s clear that a display issue is hampering Apple’s go-to-market plans.
