Stephen Bonallie Died in A Horrific Car Accident On New Year’s Evening

One man’s distraught family paid tribute to his ‘beloved son’ who died on the street in the early hours of New Year’s Eve.

At around 2 am Stephen Bonallie, 32, was driving a silver Audi A6 Estate Estate on the A167 in County Durham between Whitesmocks and Sniperley when the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other passenger in the car, a man in his 30s, is currently in critical condition.

The son, brother, and nephew received tributes from the man’s relatives.

They said in a statement: “It is with the deepest regret that we announce the passing of our 32-year-old Stephen James Bonallie, who died on Saturday morning, March 31.”

“He was a much-loved son, brother, friend, nephew, uncle, brother-in-law, and cousin and will be greatly missed.”

“We would like to thank everyone for their support and ask that they leave us behind so that we can mourn in peace.”

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote the incident reference number 26 from December 31.”

Another passenger in the car, a 30-year-old man, is currently in critical condition in a hospital.

Durham Police Collision Investigation Unit is investigating to establish the facts, but investigators are interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen the car or witnessed the collision.

One person said of the tragedy: “RIP Stephen and my condolences to all family and friends.”

Another added: “RIP condolences to the family.”
