Spotify Greenroom App Launched to Compete With Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces

Spotify Greenroom App Launched to Compete With Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces on Wednesday, the Swedish online music streaming giant’s answer to the popular clubhouse platform.

Spotify Greenroom audio app enables users to participate in live discussions or host their own.

Spotify launched Greenroom app after acquiring Betty Labs, the company behind the popular sports-oriented audio platform Locker Room. In addition to podcasts, social audio also took off in the past year with the San Francisco-based clubhouse at the top.

Since December, Clubhouse has been downloaded more than 18 million times, according to AppMagic.

Other tech giants have also entered the live audio industry, with Twitter launching Spaces in December and Facebook hosting live audio rooms. However, doubts remain about the various platforms’ ability to monetize their content.

You also have to compete with Discord, which has been offering live audio since 2015 and has more than 140 million users, although it has been more focused on video game players.

With its focus on music and, more recently, podcasts, Spotify already has the advantage of being an audio platform.
