Sindh Govt Launches Karachi-Sukkur Bullet Train Project

Sindh Transport and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said Thursday that the provincial government intends to start construction of the Karachi-Sukkur Bullet Train Project.

He made the statement while chairing the meeting on the Karachi Yellow Line BRT project. The meeting was attended by a group from the World Bank and representatives from the Department of Transportation.

The minister said support from the World Bank was needed for the Karachi-Sukkur high-speed rail project planned by the Sindh government.

He told the meeting that the Sindh government is making many efforts to strengthen Karachi’s transportation system.

The minister added that the World Bank is working with the government to develop the first phase of the Karachi-Hyderabad high-speed rail project.

In addition, it asked WB to deliver 300 electric buses to Karachi as part of the People Bus Service project.

Yellow Line Project

Sindh Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali chaired a meeting today to assess construction plans for Karachi’s Yellow Line BRT project.

The World Bank delegation, Sindh Ministry of Public Transport, and Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon attended the conference.

Speaking at the meeting was the Minister of Transport, who said the 21-kilometer Yellow Line BRT project would start in Dawood Chowrangi and end in Numasih.

According to the draft concept, the Karachi Yellow Line BRT project will be 21 km long, 17.6 km above ground, 3.2 km underground and have 28 stations. There will also be crossovers.
