Schools in UAE Are Starting To Use New Tools To Combat ChatGPT Cheats

Many students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have started abusing ChatGPT to do their homework. This has caused concern among parents and teachers. They think AI shouldn’t be used to avoid hard work.

To counteract this problem, schools in the United Arab Emirates have started using ZeroGPT, an AI-generated text recognition tool, and other similar methods. Taleem’s Head of Edtech, Vaughan Pope, said banning ChatGPT and other tools is not a solution, but using them responsibly should be the goal.

Vaughan noted that the text generated by the AI is very organized, while humans type somewhat randomly, making it a little easier to see. Steve Lupton, Principal of Repton Abu Dhabi, said his school uses several tools that recognize text generated by ChatGPT.

Repton has also changed the way he asks questions in assignments, making it harder for the AI to answer.

Steve noted that it is also important to remind students that critical thinking and problem-solving are essential skills for success.
