A polygamous cult leader in Arizona Samuel Rappylee Bateman reportedly had 20 wives, some as young as nine, married his own daughter, and traveled with his wives in a trailer equipped with a bucket toilet.
Samuel Rappylee Bateman, 46, who was arrested in Arizona earlier this year, faces chilling charges in a new FBI affidavit. Bateman drove a Bentley at the time.
Married Upto 20 Women And Underage Girls
According to the affidavit filed Friday, witnesses allege Samuel Rappylee Bateman, 46, “married” up to 20 women and girls, including his own daughter.
Since his arrest in September, after police arrested Bateman as he was transporting minors in a filthy trailer equipped with a sofa and a toilet bucket, the federal government has arrested him for disability.
Bateman is the leader of a splinter group of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or FLDS, a radical Mormon offshoot.
However, Bateman is said to be so extreme that even former FLDS leader and convicted child rapist Warren Jeffs has spoken out against him.
Incest, group sex with adults and minors, and child trafficking are among the gruesome charges detailed in the FBI document filed in the Eastern District of Washington.
Witnesses Accused
According to FBI Agent Dawn A. Martin’s presentation, which was based on witness testimony, Bateman “began to claim he was a prophet” and declared his intention to marry his own teenage daughter in 2019.
According to the affidavit, Bateman has since amassed “approximately 50 followers and more than 20 wives, many of whom are minors, most of whom are under the age of 15.”
Footage of Bateman speaking to a Colorado City, Arizona, couple who are making a documentary and speaking to the polygamous community are among the pieces of evidence listed in the affidavit.
In one instance mentioned in the letter, Bateman reportedly informed the couple that “Heavenly Father” had directed him to offer “the most precious thing he possesses, the virtue of his ladies,” to three of his adult male followers beginning in November 2021.
Bateman then watched as the three men had sex with their daughters, one of whom was just 12, according to the affidavit.
The girls are said to have “sacrificed their virtue for the Lord”, with Bateman commenting, “God will mend their bodies and put the membrane back on their bodies.”
