“With so much at stake, doesn’t it make more sense for us to hear the story?” says Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in a trailer released Thursday for the Netflix documentary series about Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife has been published.

The first clip from the long-awaited documentary was released ahead of the series’ scheduled to launch next week, and it came just as the British royal family struggled with a new career path.

Since stepping down from royal duties and moving to California two years ago, Harry and Meghan have criticized the British monarchy, including allegations of racism, which has led to a falling out with the rest of the family, including Harry’s father, King Charles. and his older brother, Prince William.

The last time Harry and Meghan opened up about their relationship with the rest of the royal family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, the institution plunged into its biggest crisis in recent memory, and the royal family will face more sentencing. revelations

The timing of the trailer and documentary could hardly be better for Netflix given that William and his wife Kate are currently in Boston and Buckingham Palace is embroiled in a racial row involving Williams’ godmother.

“Harry and Meghan. A global Netflix event,” the streaming service said on Twitter.

The accompanying trailer shows never-before-seen black-and-white footage of the royal couple, as well as one of them at a formal event with William and Kate, with all four looking somber.

Royals fans and commentators believe the choice of the image suggests Meghan and Harry would launch another attack on the Prince and Princess of Wales.

“No one sees what goes on behind closed doors,” Harry is heard saying in the trailer. He is later shown saying, “I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”

In the end, Harry is shown tilting his head back while Meghan wipes away tears.

Although no official release date has been given for the six-part documentary, it has been widely reported by the media to air on December 8th.

Netflix said the series would “share the other side of their high-profile love story” and “explore the challenges they felt compelled to retire from their full-time roles at the institution.”

The focus on Harry and Meghan comes as William and Kate embark on their first international trip since the death of Queen Elizabeth and with their new titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.

As they will meet US President Joe Biden on his first trip to the United States in eight years, the main focus is for the pair to attend an Earth shot environmental awards ceremony hosted by William.

“Our main focus … is the Earth shot Prize and we won’t let other things distract us,” a source close to William said ahead of the trip.

But it has already been overshadowed by other events. On Wednesday, the prince’s godmother, 83, resigned from her honorary role in the royal household after repeatedly asking a black woman, Ngozi Fulani, at a high-profile ceremony at Buckingham Palace: “Which party are you from Africa?”

Fulani, who was born in the UK and works for a domestic violence support group, described the incident as “abuse”. Buckingham Palace and William were quick to condemn the incident, with the Prince’s spokesman saying: “Racism has no place in our society.”

To cap off a bad day for William and Kate, while attending a Boston Celtics basketball game, part of the crowd could be heard shouting “USA, USA” loudly while their photos were projected onto a giant screen inside the stadium. British media reported that the couple also received boos from the crowd.
