Queen Loves Spotting Flaws In Historical TV Shows

Queen Elizabeth II enjoys watching television programs with her family and is very happy to point out factual mistakes made by filmmakers on projects.

Brian Hoey, author of Home with the Queen, shared conversations with a member of Buckingham Palace and revealed details about the monarch’s favorite series, Downton Abbey.

Mr. Hoey told the Daily Telegraph, “We have talked about Trooping the Color and, like the Queen, always noticed when something is wrong, like a young officer seeing his medals in the wrong order that he didn’t long ago have seen.”

“Apparently he looks the same on TV.”

“He loves to watch Downton Abbey and report bugs, also because he knows Highclere Castle where it’s filmed.”

“She was there as a guest of the Carnarvon family. She is the same when she sees something on TV. On a show she was watching, the Queen noticed that a British officer was wearing medals from the wrong period,” added Hoey.

“It was during World War I, but the medals I wore didn’t come in until World War II,” said Hoey, pointing out the mistake.
