Prince Charles Doesn’t Want To Be King, He Will Cede The Throne To William: Friend of Diana

As per the predictions of the former vocal coach of Princess Diana, a big change could hamper the British monarchy.

In an interview with The Sun, Stewart Pearce, who was also a close friend of the late Princess of Wales, claimed that Prince Charles could relinquish the throne and hand it over directly to his son Prince William after the death of the Queen.

“He [Charles] is not allowed to take the throne, he can give it to his young son. He doesn’t want to do it, such a difficult task,” Pearce said.

Pearce went on to say that William had been “part of the conversation” since he was 11 or 12 years old.

However, to implement this plan, Charles would have to involve Parliament.

As constitutional experts at University College London put it: “That would be the business of Prince Charles and Parliament. Under common law, Prince Charles automatically becomes king upon the death of the Queen.”

“Prince William could only become king if Prince Charles abdicated. This requires legislation, as was the case with the Abdication Act of 1936,” the experts explained in an article published on the institute’s website.

“The estate is governed by Parliament (as in the Succession Act of 1700 and the Crown Succession Act of 2013); it can only be changed by parliament and cannot be changed unilaterally by the ruling monarch,” they added.

“After waiting over 60 years as heir to the throne, it is natural for Prince Charles to ascend the throne and perform the royal duties for which he has so long prepared,” they wrote.

“But it would be just as natural if, after a few years as an aging monarch, he decides to invite Parliament to hand over the throne to Prince William,” added UCL experts.
